Digestive Health
Is Your Digestive System Doing Its Job?
My clinical experience has shown me that at least 60% of the population
has some sort of digestive imbalance, which in turn impacts the health
of their entire body.
Digestive problems can run the spectrum from serious medical problems
such as ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome and Chron’s
disease, to troublesome ailments like constipation, bloating, heartburn
and food sensitivities to milk or wheat. In babies, digestive problems
usually appear as colic or an overall failure to thrive.
Understanding the importance of your digestive system
The use of acupuncture in the Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective
is that our intestines are our primary brain and the grey matter between
our
ears
is our secondary
brain. This gives you some idea of how the smooth running of your digestive
system is crucial to overall well-being and abundant health.
Some of the key functions of our digestive system are:
- our digestive tract harbours the immune system, serotonin levels
and allows us to absorb vitamins and proteins to rebuild our DNA and
tissues
- the stomach produces hydrochloric acid (HCL) to break down proteins
that are required to rebuild our cell
- our spleen transforms and transports nutrients from the stomach
to all parts of the body
- the large intestine absorbs water and B vitamins and of course
eliminates waste
- our magnificent liver performs 500 functions a day and purifies
our bodies throughout the night-time
Our digestive functions are so important that in all my treatments,
regardless of what problem a person comes in with, I always check to
see that the digestive system is up to par and doing it’s job.
Assessment and diagnosis
Digestive problems can result from stress, poor food choices, irregular
eating habits and insufficient sleep. These all create disharmony in
our body, which in turn affects our capacity to clear out toxins and
break down food, and ultimately fight disease.
When our digestive system isn’t working properly, we experience
insufficient breakdown of fats, carbohydrates and proteins, which creates
mucous in our bodies. Excess vaginal discharge and sinus trouble is often
related to insufficient breakdown of these foods.
As well, food allergies can be created when food ends up in the blood
or tissues because the digestive tract cannot do its job properly.
Using Traditional
Chinese Medicine and Neurolink, I look at what the
underlying problems are with your digestive system. Some common areas
I address are:
- ensure you are producing sufficient acid
- check if all the organs involved in carbohydrate metabolism are
functioning optimally
- see if your pyloric valve is open and working
- check that the liver is digesting properly
- ensure the spleen’s lymphatic drainage is working properly
Treatment
The treatment I provide to you is always individualized and targets
not only your digestive system but your overall health as well.
The Neurolink approach is very non-invasive, painless and stress-free.
This makes Neurolink NIS treatment suitable for new born babies through
to the very aged, as well those that are very sick or injured.
